With the widespread protests over the past months, in which Iranians have been calling for a change to their government, “Iran” is now under the spotlight of regional and global political discussions.
Recently, a gathering was held in France, by the regime’s main opposing force, i.e., the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI); in which, more than 10 thousand Iranians watched the speech of its leader Maryam Rajavi, who shared her outlook on Iran’s current situation. She also applauded Iranians for their strong rise and asked them to continue with their fight across the country. She emphasised that with the support of NCRI, their victory would be inevitable.
Hundreds of known regional and global figures (such as Donald Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani; and some former army officials) attended this rally along with several political boards, who represented all 5 continents; and emphasised on NCRI being Iran’s only serious democratic alternative.
From a realistic point of view, the current political and social situation of Iran shows no hope for the future of its regime. Which is also evident in the ongoing protests of Iranians across various parts of the country. Protestors have been standing up against the regime for more than 6 months now, and they won’t stop until its subversion. Every time a protest is violently extinguished in one region, another one is ignited elsewhere. The clear continuity of these protests is what’s weakening the regime and reducing its ability regain control.
What most of us can agree on, is Iran’s explosive social status and bankrupt economy; which have captured the attention of many other countries. For the first time in 4 decades, the United States has risen in support of Iranians, and its authorities have officially declared their complete agreeance with the demands of Iranian people. In fact, the United States’ earlier exit from the nuclear deal was its way of helping Iranians win against the regime.
This year’s rally of Iranians in Paris seemed to be completely different from the ones held in previous years. Those who attended this year’s, chanted the same words as of the people in Iran, to show their unity against the regime, which the regime certainly fears a lot.
While this gathering was taking place, some protests were also occurring in Khuzestan (i.e., the Southern province of Iran). The mullah’s regime was well-aware of the intentions and importance of this gathering, which is why in addition to making a lot of diplomatic efforts to prevent it, it also planned a terrorist attack which thankfully, was detected and halted by Europe’s security forces.
The success of this rally ad the failure of the regime in stopping it, is a clear sign that NCRI is indeed the only proper democratic alternative.
